Question about police dog handlers? - careers similar to psychology yahoo answers
And yes, I understand this should be in the army, but I asked a similar Q 2 hours and no one answered. Here it is: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ...
I recently I found myself at the race and decide what will be my future profession, and I'd rather be a dog trainer, preferably (with the police, either, or I am in medicine and psychology), how can I not in the war, because I methylphenidate. I talked with some people and say it's a very rewarding and they are all very excited.
However, there is work, skills required, so that if you give me a detailed description of the contract would be greatly appreciated. I'm in the UK btw.

I was a K9 handler in the United States over the past 8 years, so I do not know the job requirements in the United Kingdom. I know someone who can say what you mean. Steve Dean is a former officer and K9 handler from London Met He has over 30 years experience and is currently responsible for the breeding program meets in London. It is the closest thing to an expert, you will notice, and if someone can answer your questions is Steve.

One of the fundamental characteristics is the ability to 5 miles in less than 30 minutes to run in full battle dress, used with a tracking dog. Can you?
Fitness is the most common reason why students are exposed to, dog trainers in the course.
The second problem is the inability to physically controlled the dog's leash.
The use of dogs is divided into a number of types. Protection, drug sniffers, trackers of explosives and weapons detection of explosive devices and mines for the military.
It is a breed of dog can do everything. A Spaniel is quite possible to find drugs, but they lack the strength to pursue, while strong bite of the GS and Malois are good, but they are too heavy for loading baggage searches at airports.
Dogs are not used in theUnited Kingdom, to quell disturbances, but can be an intimidating effect in a scene where people do not jump on police orders "Move Along".
A trained dog can be by voice alone in a reasonable distance of the driver are controlled. Many dogs are trained to only to commands in a foreign language like German or Russian to react to avoid the wrong boy. Once I had a GS, which has been trained to attack on the word "mustard". and the word for the control was ouss.
Dogs should be allowed in their training to be successful, to build their confidence. The end of the session each bite, the dog receives a reward, and take the padded arm of the attacker was wearing during the training.
Police dogsDogs are athletes, who must work every day and must have a diet rich in protein, eating the remains under the best conditions. Their life is usually about 7 years after the start of their training in one years old. Any youth and can act as those who are still "young professionals, growing bones are still injured.
Do a Google search for the German word "Shutzhund" which is the Olympic Games competition for dogs. This is the highest in the world to get to the security or the police canine to. This is the highest level of competition for dogs.
